(1) DUTIES OF A STUDENT
Student life is the best period
of a man’s life. It is the most impotent time of life. It is called the sowing
season of life. A student has three duties, duty towards Allah, duty towards
parents and duty towards mankind. So he has certain duties to the society in
which they live in.
The
first and foremost duty of a student is to acquire knowledge. But, he must not
confine himself to the prescribed books only. He must read newspaper,
magazines, nobles; dramas during his leisure. A student should respect his
parents and teachers. He should be well behaved, punctual and disciplined in
every sphere of life. He must abide by the rules and regulations of his
institution. He must be gentle and amiable. He must also avoid evil company. He
must be honest in life. Without honesty, any kind of succeed is not possible at
all. A student must be truthful also. Because, truthfulness is the key to all
success.
A
student should not engage himself in his own work. He has also some duties and
responsibilities to the people of the society. We know that most of the people
of our country are poor and illiterate. A student can teach the illiterate
people. He can help the villagers to change their poor condition. He can teach
them about family planning, health, nutrition, children rising and scientific
method of cultivation etc. During natural calamities, people need help. In time
of flood, famine, cyclone, earthquake and epidemic students should come forward
to help the affected people. They should collect food, clothes, medicine etc.
and distribute them amongst the affected people.
Student’s service is necessary
in the field of our national health. Female students can teach the uneducated
women how to keep their houses neat and clean. They also can teach women how to
bring up children and look after their health. The village people and the
people living in the slums, suffer from many diseases. They have no knowledge
about health and environment. Students can teach them about the basic rules of
health and environment.
Students are the future leaders
of a country. They are the makers of society. They are the soldiers of social
peace. They should serve society without any selfish motive.

Village
The name of my village is Horipur. It is a small village
but it is very beautiful. It is about
two miles long and one mile wide. It is in the district of Kushtia. It is an
ideal village. It is not far from Thana.
Our village is densely populated
It
stands on the bank of the river ‘Gurai’. Our village is near the river. So,
jute, paddy, nut, sugarcane, various kinds of fruits and many other crops and
vegetables grow in plenty. Besides, the climate of our village is very good for
our health and agriculture. It is a half mile away from the town of Kushtia. The villagers go
to the town within a few minutes by crossing the bridge or river they go to the
town for selling and buying their daily necessary goods.
About three thousand people live in our village.
Most of them are Muslims with only a few families of Hindus. Both the Hindus
and the Muslims live together in peace here. The villagers are simple, innocent
and free from modern vices. Most of them belong to middle class. Agriculture is
the main occupation of the villagers. About 80% of people are agriculturists.
Some traders, service holders, lowers, doctors, and teachers also live here.
Most of the villagers are active and energetic.
There are a high
school, two primary schools, a madrasa, a post office and four mosques in our
village. Village boys and girls receive their education in these schools. Boys
and girls from other villages come to receive education. There is a post office
and bank in the village. There is also a market in the village. The daily
market sits everyday and the hat sits twice in a week. People buy their daily
necessaries from the market. There is also a charitable dispensary in the village.
The
communication system of our village is highly developed. A semi pucca road runs
though the village linking the inter-district road that leads to different
directions to other districts. People can easily go along this road to the
district town and even can go by crossing the river by a boat. They use boats,
buses and different vehicles for communication. Communicative system of our
village is better than any other village in Bangladesh.
Our village is full of natural beauties. The
natural scenery of our village is very charming .Our village is a great center
of culture. There are many poets, bauls, novelists, dramatists and singers in
our village. In our village there is the
touch of the greatest poets and bauls like Robindranath Thagore and Lanon Shah.
Robindranath Thagore and Lanon Shah write many songs and poems sitting on the
bank of the river.
We
can say to conclude (Dcmsnv‡i) that our village is a happy home for us. It
is free from corruptions and terrorists. It is a paradise to us. We love our
village very much.

age is an age of science. Modern science is nothing but a skill magician. It
has made our life easy and comfortable. One after one, it is providing the mankind
with wonders. It has absolutely conquered the indomitable forces of nature. The
wonders of modern science are not fully illustrated in a short composition.
Electricity
is the first wonder of modern science. It is the first driving force of modern
civilization. Electric-power is used for various purposes. Without it,
the advancement of modern science is Impossible.
Computer is a fairly recent
invention. It has now become an essential part of modern life. It is often
contribution of modern science. There is hardly any sector in our life where we
do not use computer. In agricultural, medical, educational, communication and
transportation sectors, we have been able to attain great achievements with the
help of computer.
Science
has done miracle in the field of medical science. It has enabled men to
fight diseases effectively. In our time everyone hopes to live longer than his

closer to us. We can send news from one corner o to another of the world within
a few seconds.
Television,
radio, face book, internet etc. are the main sources of mass communication as
well as recreation. Television and radio are the popular mediums of
communicating thoughts and opinions. At one hand, they broadcast the news of
national and international affairs. On The Other hand, they are the chief
Sources of entertainment. Likewise, internet provides us with all kinds of

energy are the wonderful success of modern science.
Modern

impossible to say what it can perform or not. It seems that it has started its
journey not to be stopped any where at any time.

We,
the students of your glorious school, beg to draw your kind attention to the
following fact that the number of students of our school is increasing every
year. But our common room isn’t spacious and well furnished. Benches and chairs
are not sufficient. The room is so small
that only a few students can sit there at a time. Besides, there are no newspapers and game
articles for our recreation. Our common room facilities are very poor. This
common room cannot provide us enough facilities for recreation. We
need English and Bengali newspapers, some game articles, two fans, some chairs
and tables in the common room.
Under
the above circumstances, we hope that you would be kind enough to increase
common room facilities
(4) Childhood Memories
Childhood
is the sweetest and most memorable period in a man’s life. Every man or woman
has childhood memories. I have also some memories. Very often these memories
are reflected on my mind in my loneliness. Whenever I remember my childhood
days, I feel happy and delighted.
I
always remember the playground which was behind our house. I always used to
playground which was behind our house. I always used to play there with my
friends. I and some of my friends used to row on the river, jump into it and
swim in it. Sometime we caught fish by hook.
The
memory of my stealing fruits is very interesting. I was very fond of stealing
mangoes, litchis, black barriers and other fruits with my friends. One day I
and some of my friends went to steal mango in a certain tree. But the owner of
the tree caught us with mangoes. We were trembling with fear. But the man did
nothing. i shall never forget this memory.
The
memory of the first day at school is still fresh in my life mind. My father
took me to the nearest primary school for admission. I was taken to the
headmaster’s room. At first I got frightened. The headmaster asked me some
questions. I could answer them properly. I was allowed to classmates received
me cordially.
All of
my memories are not joyful. Some are also painful and heart touching. The death
of my grandmother is one of them. One morning I heard the sound of crying from
my grandmother’s living room. We rushed there. I saw grandmother lying on her
bed with a sheet covering. I could understand that she is no more in the world.
I was greatly shocked and wept. It was the first death scene in my life. I will
never forget this sad event.
Except
some events my childhood days were tally happy. The happy memories of those
days are still in my heart with great joy. I wish I could have my childhood
days again.

(5) The Rainy Season
There
are six seasons in Bangladesh.
Each season consists of two months. We hear new sounds and enjoy new scenes in
each season. The rainy season is one of the best seasons in our country. The
agriculture and the economy of our country mainly depend on the season. The
rainy season comes after the summer.
Ashar
and Shraban are the months of the rainy season. The rainy season starts in the
middle of June and lasts up to the middle of September. During the rainy season
the sky is often covered with clouds. The sun is not seen. In the rainy season
it rains heavily. Sometimes it drizzles and sometimes it rains cats and dogs.
The rivers, the canals and the ponds are full to the brim. The fields and the
roads go under water the roads become muddy and slippery. People can not move from one place to
another. Those who have offices and other business go out with umbrella over
the head. Sometimes people slip and fall on the muddy roads. Most of the
students do not go to the school. Only a few students go to school because
classes are not held on a rainy day. It is a day of great joy to them. So they
remain indoors. They pass the time by gossiping, joking and playing.
Bangladesh is
mainly an agricultural country. Her economy and prosperity depend on
agriculture. Our agriculture depends on the rainy season. If there is
sufficient rain, the joys of the farmers know no bound. They plough their lands
and sow seeds in time. The farmers of our country can not get a good harvest if
it does not rain in the proper time. Without rain water paddy, jute and other
crops can not grow well in our country. Without rain water our agriculture is
totally lifeless. So the rainy season is a blessing of nature. Heavy rainfall
creates flood. Flood water carries a lot of silt (cwj gvwUi UzKiv) and it makes
the soil fertile. As a result, paddy, jute, sugarcane and other crops grow in
plenty.
Every
season has some demerits. The rainy season has some demerits. During the rainy
season it rains heavily in full swing. Heavy rainfall causes flood and bring
about untold sorrows, sufferings and miseries. There is water everywhere. Roads
become muddy and
Slippery.
People can not go out. Normal activities of life are stopped. Students can not
go to schools and colleges. People are to use umbrellas and move by boat. After
flood different
The
rainy is the most important and useful season in our country. It is an
inseparable part of nature. It plays a vital role for our economy. This season
has a different meaning the poets and imaginative type of people.

10. Write an application to your Headmaster prayer for a common room.
Subject: Prayer for a common
room.
Sir,
With
due honour and respect we beg to state that we are the students of your
glorious school. We have been studying in your school for three years. But it
is a matter of great sorrow that there is no common room in our school. A
common room helps the students in many ways. It is a part and parcel of a
school. We are suffering much for it. We can not read newspapers, journals and
magazines in our off-periods. We also can not play in door games like ludu,
chess, carram and badminton etc. We are very eager to get it for our rest,
increasing our knowledge and recreation.
We, there-fore, pray and hope that you would be
kind enough to grant us to set up a common room in our school and help us to
pass our leisure time.
Physical
exercise means the movement of our limbs according to some rules. It is good
for health. It gives us health and energy. It is necessary for the preservation
of health. We cannot enjoy sound health without it. Physical exercise makes a
man active and strong. It keeps him free from various fatal diseases.
There
are various kinds of physical exercise. Walking, riding, swimming, rowing and
different types of games are good forms of exercise. All of them are not
suitable for everybody. There are some forms of physical exercise like
badminton, cricket, hockey, football, tennis are quite good. For the female
table tennis and badminton are quite nice exercises. Other hand, walking which
is a very common and easy exercise. It is good for the weak and the old.
Physical
exercise should not be taken all the time. It must be taken in the open air. So
morning and evening are the best time for taking physical exercise. Closed room
is not proper place for taking exercise. We should take physical exercise
regularly. But remember, no exercise should be taken immediate after taking
meal or in empty stomach. Do not take over exercise. It may tell up the health.
The
merits of taking physical exercise are not described in words. Our body is like
a machine. It cannot function well without exercise. Physical exercise helps us
to digest our food properly. It makes out bones and muscles strong and stout.
It also makes us pains-taking and hard-working. It prevents diseases and helps
balanced growth of our body. There is a proverb in English that a sound mind
lives in a sound body. It takes our mind away from the monotony of our routine
bound work and helps us to forget pains, sorrows and mental agonies of our
day-to-day life. It gives fresh energy, refreshes our mind and helps us to work
with renewed vigor. It increases our longevity too.
Physical
exercise is the most essential for the students. They are the citizens in the
making. Their life is the life of preparation for the struggle of life. The
students of today will lead the nation tomorrow. They cannot expect to win in
the battle of life without sound health. So taking physical exercise is a must
for them.
Health
is the root of all happiness. Physical exercise keeps us healthy. Many people
do not take physical exercise regularly. Then soon lose their health. They fall
victims to many diseases. So the necessity of taking exercise should not be
ignored. Physical exercise prolongs our life and strengthens our mind. If we
want to keep our mind and body fresh, we should take regular physical exercise.
(7) A Village Doctor
A village doctor is
familiar figure in our country. He is known to almost all the villagers. He
serves the primary health care and in case of dying patients he refers them to
the hospital. As he is not a well-trained doctor, people usually call him a
quack. Actually, his service saves valuable lives of the villagers.
His knowledge of
medicine is very little. He does not receive any medical degree from a medical
college. He only undergoes a few month' training under the non-govt LMF
training centre or under a medical practitioner. Then he starts his independent
practice.
A village doctor is
one of the busiest persons in the village. He has to respond to the calls of
the patients. He serves the patients all day long. Sometimes he passes
sleepless night for the patients of the village. He not only serves the
patients even he advises them to take better treatment for the hospital.
His treatment is
very simple. He never deals with critical patients. He has a very small number
of scientific apparatus like a stethoscope, a BP machine, some injection
instruments etc.
Every now and then
a village doctor has to struggle with rude behaviour of the villagers. Some
village people appeal to him to take care of the critical patients but he is unable
to do anything for them.
A village doctor
usually has a small dispensary with lower priced medicine. In his dispensary he
given advice, prescribes medicines to the patients. He has one or two almirahs
in his dispensary. He has not a large stock of medicine. He has only cheap and
common medicine in his dispensary.
Actually the
importance of a village doctor’s service is great to the villagers. His primary
treatment saves a lot of valuable lives. His humanitarian work helps us to do
better for the society. So, we should respect a village doctor.
(8) Newspaper
Modern
age is an age of modern science. Modern science has invented new ways and means
for our comforts. Newspaper is a wonder of modern science. Newspaper is a paper
which carries news and views of home and abroad to us. In the morning we wait
eagerly for a newspaper. We can not have our breakfast without a newspaper of
the day. We cannot do a single day without newspaper. It is a part and parcel
in our day to day life.
Newspaper
was first published in England
during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The Indian gazette which was the first
newspaper in indo-Bangladesh was published in 1774. The Samachar Darpan is the
first Bengali newspaper. The Christian missionaries of Sreampore published it.
Now those days are gone by. Man has invented printing machine. Thousands of
newspapers are being printed daily all over the world.
There
are many kinds of newspapers. They are dailies, biweeklies, weeklies, monthlies
and even quarterlies. The dailies contain news and views about the daily
affairs of the whole world. There are some other papers which are known as
periodicals and magazines. They contain literary articles. There are many
English and Bengali dailies in our country. They are The Ittefaq, the Prothom Alo,
The Inquilab, the observer, The Bangladesh times and The Independence etc.
Global
distance has been removed. The world has become smaller. One part of the world
has been linked up with another through newspaper. Newspaper if of great use to
us. It serves the purpose of people of different sections. We get all sorts of
information in the newspapers. We know through them what is going on the world
around us. They give us news about politics, economies, culture, literature,
games and sports of the whole world.
Newspaper
is very useful to us. It has removed
global distance. The world has become smaller. One part of the world has been
linked up with another through newspaper. It gives us news of our own country
and other countries. We get all sorts of information in the newspaper. We can
learn about the progress of science, literature and arts. We can learn of what
our rights and duties are. Newspapers help us to spread learning among the
common people. Merchants can advertise their goods in newspapers and increase
their sale. They can also learn the condition of trade in different places by
reading newspapers.
Every
thing in the world influences both good and dark sides on human life. Newspapers have some dark sides. Sometimes
false and sensational news are published in the newspapers. These kinds of news
create problems and disturb the peace of society.
In
spite of having some demerits newspapers are very useful to us. Every one
should read newspapers every day. A newspaper is a great source of information
and knowledge. Without a newspaper we can not even think of our own life.
