(1) DUTIES OF A STUDENT
Man has three duties, duty towards Allah,
duty towards parents and duty towards mankind. So students have certain duties
to the society in which they live in.
Students in our country can give free
service in different spheres of our national life. Most of the people of our
country are illiterate. Students can open night schools and teach the
illiterate people. They can remove illiteracy from our country. During the
vacation they can go to villages and teach the village people.
Student’s service is necessary in the
field of our national health. Female students can teach the uneducated women
how to keep their houses neat and clean. They also can teach women how to bring
up children and look after their health. The village people and the people
living in the slums, suffer from many diseases. They have no knowledge about
health and environment. Students can teach them about the basic rules of health
and environment.
Bangladesh is an agricultural country.
Her prosperity depends on agriculture. But the farmers of our country are
illiterate. They have no knowledge about scientific method of cultivation. In
this case students can teach the illiterate farmers.
Bangladesh is an over populated country.
Most of the village people of our country family planning. They are unwilling
to accept family planning. In this regard, students can render a good social
service. They can explain to illiterate village people the need for adopting
family planning.
During floods and cyclones and famine
students stand by the affected people. Students can collect money from the
rich, raise funds, save the affected people, feed the hungry, and nurse the
sick and cloth the naked. During epidemics medical students and other students
may serve the sick with proper food, cloth, medicine and other necessary
things.
Students are the servants of society.
They are the makers of society. They are the soldiers of social peace. They
should serve society without any selfish motive.
Modern age is an age of science. Modern science is
nothing but a skill magician. It has made our life easy and comfortable. One
after one, it is providing the mankind with wonders. It has absolutely
conquered the indomitable forces of nature. The wonders of modern science are
not fully illustrated in a short composition.
Electricity is the first wonder of modern science.
It is the first driving force of modern civilization. Electric-power is used
for various purposes. Without it, the advancement of modern science is
Impossible.
Computer
is a fairly recent invention. It has now become an essential part of modern
life. It is often contribution of modern science. There is hardly any sector in
our life where we do not use computer. In agricultural, medical, educational,
communication and transportation sectors, we have been able to attain great
achievements with the help of computer.
Science has done miracle in the field of medical
science. It has enabled men to fight diseases effectively. In our time
everyone hopes to live longer than his forefathers Biopsy and Ultrasonography,
E.C.G, Ultra-Violet Ray, X-Ray and Penicillin are the wonders of modern science
in the field of medical science. Besides, there are many other inventions of
modern science against many other fatal diseases.
Science has created wonders in the fields of
communication. Telephone, telex, fax, wireless, telegram, E-mail etc. are great
wonders. They have brought the world closer to us. We can send news from one
corner o to another of the world within a few seconds.
Television, radio, face book, internet etc. are the
main sources of mass communication as well as recreation. Television and radio
are the popular mediums of communicating thoughts and opinions. At one hand,
they broadcast the news of national and international affairs. On The Other
hand, they are the chief Sources of entertainment. Likewise, internet provides
us with all kinds of Information and recreation. Besides, Space travel and the
invention of nuclear energy are the wonderful success of modern science.
Modern science is still increasing the number of
wonders day After day. It is impossible to say what it can perform or not. It
seems that it has started its journey not to be stopped any where at any time.
(3) The
Rainy Season
There are six seasons in Bangladesh. Each season
consists of two months. We hear new sounds and enjoy new scenes in each season.
The rainy season is one of the best seasons in our country. The agriculture and
the economy of our country mainly depend on the season. The rainy season comes
after the summer.
Ashar and Shraban are the months of the rainy
season. The rainy season starts in the middle of June and lasts up to the
middle of September. During the rainy season the sky is often covered with
clouds. The sun is not seen. In the rainy season it rains heavily. Sometimes it
drizzles and sometimes it rains cats and dogs. The rivers, the canals and the
ponds are full to the brim. The fields and the roads go under water the roads
become muddy and slippery. People can
not move from one place to another. Those who have offices and other business
go out with umbrella over the head. Sometimes people slip and fall on the muddy
roads. Most of the students do not go to the school. Only a few students go to
school because classes are not held on a rainy day. It is a day of great joy to
them. So they remain indoors. They pass the time by gossiping, joking and
playing.
Bangladesh is mainly an agricultural country. Her
economy and prosperity depend on agriculture. Our agriculture depends on the
rainy season. If there is sufficient rain, the joys of the farmers know no
bound. They plough their lands and sow seeds in time. The farmers of our
country can not get a good harvest if it does not rain in the proper time.
Without rain water paddy, jute and other crops can not grow well in our
country. Without rain water our agriculture is totally lifeless. So the rainy
season is a blessing of nature. Heavy rainfall creates flood. Flood water carries
a lot of silt (cwj gvwUi UzKiv) and it makes the soil fertile. As a result,
paddy, jute, sugarcane and other crops grow in plenty.
Every season has some demerits. The rainy season
has some demerits. During the rainy season it rains heavily in full swing.
Heavy rainfall causes flood and bring about untold sorrows, sufferings and
miseries. There is water everywhere. Roads become muddy and
Slippery. People can not go out. Normal activities
of life are stopped. Students can not go to schools and colleges. People are to
use umbrellas and move by boat. After flood different
The rainy is the most important and useful season
in our country. It is an inseparable part of nature. It plays a vital role for
our economy. This season has a different meaning the poets and imaginative type
of people.
(4) A Village Market
A village market is a place where the villagers
meet buy and sell things. It is a buying and selling center for the villagers.
Generally it sits every morning. Besides, big markets sit once or twice a week.
A village market generally stands at an open place
where people can easily come for buying and selling things. So it usually
stands at the junction of roads or by the side of a river or a canal. Large
banyan trees are let grown to give shade and shelter.
There are two kinds of village market. They are the
daily market and the weekly market. The daily market is called “Bazar”. It sits
in the morning and breaks up before noon.
Besides, it also sits in the afternoon and breaks
up late at night. The weekly market is called “Hat”. It sits once or twice a
week and breaks up late in the evening.
A village market has three parts like open space,
temporary shad and permanent shed. It the open space the sellers sit in rows.
Fish, milk, fruits, betel, leaves, vegetables etc. are sold in the open space.
People buy their daily necessaries from here. Oil, rice, salt, pepper, etc. are
sold in the temporary shops. Some grocers, tailors, doctors, potters etc. sit
in the permanent shops.
The village market is very useful to the villagers.
Here they get their daily necessary things. It saves the villagers form going
to distant places for buying things. It is the meeting place of the villagers.
The villagers find a social and friendly life here.
A village market has some disadvantages too. It is
a noisy and an unhealthy place. A village market is not also free from defects.
There is no fixed price in the market. A customer may be cheated at any
time. Pick-pickets and gamblers come up
and do their evils. Sometimes, the shopkeepers are also oppressed by the local
criminals.
A village market is a part and parcel of our rural
economy. We should keep it neat and clean. Even Our government should take
proper steps against price-hiking, pick-pockets, gamblers and other criminals.
(5) Flood or, Flood in Bangladesh
Flood is a natural calamity. It is an annual affair
in Bangladesh. Bangladesh suffers from flood almost every year. Due to
excessive rainfall or any toner cause when rivers and canals overflow their
banks and make huge loss to crops and property, it is called flood.
The causes of flood are many. It is mainly caused
by heavy showers of rain. It may be caused by cyclones, tidal bores or melting
of snow on mountains.
Flood causes a big loss of our life, property and
crops. It washes away villages, roads and even people’s houses. Many human
lives are lost. All the communication system is suspended. People become homeless.
They take shelter on the high roads, schools and colleges. The after erects of
flood are more dangerous. After flood epidemic and famine break out. The areas
affected by flood become muddy and unhealthy. There is scarcity of drinking
water. The price of all daily necessities goes up. Relief should be given
properly to the flood affected people. They should be rehabilitated. Easy loans
and seed should be given to them.
The last two consequent floods in 2007 were very
terrible. The floods caused a great havoc. It took a heavy toll of lives.
Nearly forty eight districts were swept over by the floods. Many people became
homeless, many cattle died and huge properties were damaged.
Floods do some good to us. It makes our lands
fertile by depositing silt. It washes away filth and dirt. It is urgently
necessary to take proper steps for the control of flood in out country. Both
long and short term plans can be taken. The silted up beds of out rivers should
be excavated for carrying more water. Proper embankments should be constructed
along the banks of the rivers.
Flood causes a huge loss
to our country every year. So we must control flood at any cost
(6) Tree Plantation in Bangladesh
“Give back the forest, take your town”, says
Rabindranath tagore. By these lines the poet tries to convince us about the
importance of trees. Tree plantation means planting trees more and more. It is
not possible to lead a happy and peaceful life without trees.
Lands in the upper valley of a river are more
suitable for the growth and development of forest. But Bangladesh is a lower
reverie country. For this reason, we have no rich forest resources. Our forest
resources constitute with the forest of Bhawal, Madhupur, Chittagong hill
tracts and the famous Sundarbans.
Some people inconsiderately cut down trees
everywhere. They do not think that the destruction of forests can destroy the
environmental system. Because of deforestation, Bangladesh is now at the risk
of turning into a desert. Besides, we may also face the problems of flood, soil
erosion; drought etc. it is a great threat to out environment.
There is ample scope for forestation in Bangladesh.
Sea beaches, low lying areas and fallow lands can be brought under the schema
of forestation with special types to trees suited to the soil. June is the best
time for planting trees.
Trees play an important role in our daily life. In
order to live we need oxygen. Trees give us that oxygen. They give us food and
fruits. They also provide us shelter. we get wood from trees and without wood
we cannot make houses, furniture, boats,
launches, and ships etc. It trees are planted on the banks of rivers and
sea-shores, soil erosion can be prevented. They also prevent air pollution.
Trees protect the country from the harmful green house effect.
To preserve our environment we should plant more
and more trees. Tree plantation programme should be expanded to the remote
corner of the country. The officers connected with this programme should take
proper steps and needful measures to make it success. Government should take
necessary steps to make it success. Government should take necessary steps to
make the people interested in planting trees.
Trees are important for our life. The necessity of
trees and the importance of tree plantation cannot be ignored in any way. So it
is our bounden duty to plant trees more and take care of the trees.
(7) My hobby
Hobby
is a pleasant pastime. It is man’s favorite occupation but not his main
occupation. It is an occupation after his taste and choice. It may not bring
him money but he gets the joy and pleasure from his hobby. It cannot be
measured in terms of money. A man must have a hobby for a sound mind and sound
health. So it is necessary to enjoy life.
Hobbies vary from person to person according to his
taste, choices and aptitude. There are various types of hobby like reading,
fishing, gardening, shooting, stamp-collecting, bee-keeping,
drawing, painting singing etc.
The greatest people of the world had their hobbies.
They took hobbies to relieve their mind from the dread monotony of their main
business. Alexander, Washington. Napoleon. Tolstoy, Rabindranath, Veranda show
– all had their hobbies. I am a student. My first and foremost duty is to study
hard both at home and at school. I have also a hobby like others. My hobby is
gardening.
My favourite hobby is gardening. My garden is
located in front of our house. I work in my garden both in the morning and in
the evening. I loose the soil with the spade and weed out the grass. I water
the plants regularly. I have planted various kinds of flower plants in my
garden. They are: the rose, the dalia, the cosmos, the karabi, the krisnachura,
the nargis etc. I have put a fence around my garden so that cattle or naughty
children can not do any harm to my garden. Most of the flowers of my garden
bloom in the morning and spread sweet smell all around. Each flower has color
of its own. The rose is the best of them.
Gardening is very helpful to me in various ways. It
helps me make the best use of my leisure time. My health has improved much with
the starting of my garden. Every morning I feel a great pleasure to see my
garden with flowers. The flowers dance merrily in the morning breeze and
present a very charming look. At night, the sweet smell of flowers comes into
my room and makes me happy and fills my mind with heavenly peace.
Thus my hobby is a great source of joy and pleasure
to me. Every man should have a hobby for enjoying the blessings of sound mind
and sound body. I get much pleasure from my hobby.
(8) Childhood Memories
Childhood is the sweetest and most memorable period
in a man’s life. Every man or woman has childhood memories. I have also some
memories. Very often these memories are reflected on my mind in my loneliness.
Whenever I remember my childhood days, I feel happy and delighted.
I always remember the playground which was behind
our house. I always used to playground which was behind our house. I always
used to play there with my friends. I and some of my friends used to row on the
river, jump into it and swim in it. Sometime we caught fish by hook.
The memory of my stealing fruits is very
interesting. I was very fond of stealing mangoes, litchis, black barriers and
other fruits with my friends. One day I and some of my friends went to steal
mango in a certain tree. But the owner of the tree caught us with mangoes. We
were trembling with fear. But the man did nothing. i shall never forget this memory.
The memory of the first day at school is still
fresh in my life mind. My father took me to the nearest primary school for
admission. I was taken to the headmaster’s room. At first I got frightened. The
headmaster asked me some questions. I could answer them properly. I was allowed
to classmates received me cordially.
All of my memories are not joyful. Some are also
painful and heart touching. The death of my grandmother is one of them. One
morning I heard the sound of crying from my grandmother’s living room. We
rushed there. I saw grandmother lying on her bed with a sheet covering. I could
understand that she is no more in the world. I was greatly shocked and wept. It
was the first death scene in my life. I will never forget this sad event.
Except some events my childhood days were tally
happy. The happy memories of those days are still in my heart with great joy. I
wish I could have my childhood days again.
(9) Student life
The period that we spend in acquiring knowledge in
our educational institutions like schools, colleges, universities etc. is
called student life. It is the golden period of life. We decorate our dreams in
our mind in this stage. It is also called the period of sowing seed. In this
stage, as a student will sow, so will he reap?
Students first and foremost duty is to study and
acquire knowledge and prepare himself for a particular profession. He should be
regular in his classes and should read his lessons attentively. Besides reading
text books, he should read newspapers,
magazines, novels, and dramas etc. to gather extra knowledge.
A student has many duties except main duty. He
should always make the best use of his time because time and tide wait for
none. At this stage a student should form the habit of practising honesty,
perseverance, sympathy, generosity and obedience.
Students may often come forward to rendering social
services. During vacation, they can organize adult education. They can arrange
various kinds of educational programmes for the destitute (ewÂZ)
children. Moreover, the students usually play an important role in arranging
blood donation activities.
Today’s students are the future leaders of the
nation. So they should play a vital role in building the nation. They should
extend their helping hands in time of any national crisis. For instance, they
can stand by the suffering people during natural calamities. In such a
situation, they can collect funds for homeless and helpless people and take
part in relief operations. Finally, they should study and work hard for the
country with patriotic feelings.
By keeping in mind all the qualities of a student,
the students should be confident and should study hard to enrich themselves
with the latest knowledge of the world.
(10) My
daily routine
Daily
life means a routine life. I am a
student. So I try my best to follow my daily routine. It is my habit to get up
early in the morning. I brush my teeth, wash my hands, face and take my
ablution and say my Fazar prayer. Then I go out for a walk in the open air for
about half an hour and come back home again. Once again I wash my hands, feet
and face. After that I take my breakfast and sit at my reading table. I read
for three hours at a stretch. Nobody is allowed to enter my room during this
time. I make my lessons attentively.
After
finishing my regular lessons, I take my bath and meal. Then I start for my
school at 10 a.m. because our school sits at 10-30 a.m. I always sit in the
first bench and listen to what my teachers say. I take down the important
notes. In the off period I do not move here and there. Rather I go to the
common room and refresh myself by taking part in indoor and outdoor games. At tiffin
period I take tiffin and say my Zohar prayer.
Our
school breaks up at 4 p.m. Then I come back to my home straight. I do not spend
time with bad boys on the way. Returning home, I wash my face, teeth, hands and
feet very well and have my meal. I say Asar prayer. After taking a little rest,
I go to the play ground. I play football or other outdoor games with my class
mates. Before the sun set I return to my home.
Returning
home, I take my ablution and say my Magrib prayer. Then I sit at my reading
table and prepare my lessons till 10 p.m. After that I say my Esha prayer. I
take my supper. Normally I go to bed at 11 p.m. Besides this I read the daily
newspapers and weeklies. I enjoy television. I maintain my dairy.
This
is my daily routine. But there are minor changes. Only Friday I go to different
places to remove the monotony. So during long vacation and holidays I go to the
house of my relatives. I also take part in social work.
A
routined life is a must for everybody to reach the goal of life. Without following
a routined life none can hope to march in life. So everyone should have a daily
life and follow it strictly.
(11) Newspaper
Ours is an age
of modern science. Modern science has invented new ways and means for our
comforts. Newspaper is a wonder of modern science. Newspaper is a paper which
carries news and views of home and abroad to us. In the morning we wait eagerly
for a newspaper. We can not have our breakfast without a newspaper of the day.
We cannot do a single day without newspaper. It is a part and parcel in our day
to day life.
Newspaper was
first published in England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The Indian
gazette which was the first newspaper in indo-Bangladesh was published in 1774.
The Samachar Darpan is the first Bengali newspaper. The Christian missionaries
of Sreampore published it. Now those days are gone by. Man has invented
printing machine. Thousands of newspapers are being printed daily all over the
world.
There are many
kinds of newspapers. They are dailies, biweeklies, weeklies, monthlies and even
quarterlies. The dailies contain news and views about the daily affairs of the
whole world. There are some other papers which are known as periodicals and
magazines. They contain literary articles. There are many English and Bengali
dailies in our country. They are The Ittefaq, the Prothom Alo, The Inquilab,
the observer, The Bangladesh times and
The Independence etc.
Global distance
has been removed. The world has become smaller. One part of the world has been
linked up with another through newspaper. Newspaper if of great use to us. It
serves the purpose of people of different sections. We get all sorts of
information in the newspapers. We know through them what is going on the world
around us. They give us news about politics, economies, culture, literature,
games and sports of the whole world.
Newspaper is
very useful to us. It has removed global
distance. The world has become smaller. One part of the world has been linked
up with another through newspaper. It gives us news of our own country and
other countries. We get all sorts of information in the newspaper. We can learn
about the progress of science, literature and arts. We can learn of what our
rights and duties are. Newspapers help us to spread learning among the common
people. Merchants can advertise their goods in newspapers and increase their
sale. They can also learn the condition of trade in different places by reading
newspapers.
Every thing in
the world influences both good and dark sides on human life. Newspapers have some dark sides. Sometimes
false and sensational news are published in the newspapers. These kinds of news
create problems and disturb the peace of society.
In spite of
having some demerits newspapers are very useful to us. Every one should read
newspapers every day. A newspaper is a great source of information and
knowledge. Without a newspaper we can not even think of our own life.
(12) Discipline
Discipline
means obedience to certain rules and regulations. Man is a social being. In the
society he can not do whatever he likes. He must obey some rules and
regulations. To obey these rules and regulations is called discipline. It helps
a man to lead his life according to the prevailing law and order. Discipline is
necessary in every walk of our life. It is the key to success in life.
The value of discipline is indescribable in our
life. It helps men to live in society with peace happiness. It is the
basis of all the virtues. Without discipline nothing can be improved in a
country.
Discipline
is the first low of nature. The planets move round the sun in a disciplined
way. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The seasons of the year
come one after another in regular turns. If there was no discipline in nature,
the world would have been destroyed.
Discipline is very necessary for every steps of our
life. Student life is the best time to build the habit of discipline. A student
must attend school punctually and obey the rules of the school. He must carry
out the orders of the teachers. Without discipline the teachers cannot teach
and the students cannot learn their lessons.
Discipline is strictly maintained in the army. It
is the part and parcel of the army. Difficulty, danger and even death cannot
escape a soldier from carrying out the orders of his commanders.
Discipline is necessary in games and sports. A
player has to show respect to the decision of the referee. If the players in
the play ground they are sure to lose the game.
All the members of a house should obey the rules of
the family. A family, without discipline is sure to suffer chaos and
unhappiness. A disciplined family leads a happy and healthy life.
Discipline is the root of all virtues of our life.
Development of a society, a country and a nation is not possible without discipline.
A life without discipline is like a ship without a rudder. So all of us should
be the performer of discipline from the every beginning of life.
(13)
Your Aim in Life / Your Future Plan
Everyman
has an aim in life. A man without an aim is like a boat without a rudder. A
boat without rudder faces danger. Similarly a man without an aim can not reach
to his goal. He stumbles in his way of life. So every man should have definite
aim.
Different
men have different aims in life. Some want to be engineers. Some want to
scholars. Some want to earn fame, some want to be teachers and so on. But
my aim in life is to be a doctor. My parents and teachers have given their
consent to my choice. There are many reasons for choosing the profession of a
doctor. I shall prepare myself in that way.
The
people of our village are poor. They suffer from many diseases. They do not get
help and advice from good doctors. So I have decided to go back to my village
and serve them. The service of a good doctor is very important. Most of the
people of our country are illiterate. They live in the villages. Good doctors
are not available in the villages. As a result, many villagers die in a
premature death. When I think the distress of these poor people, my heart is
filled with pity for them. So I have decided to become a good doctor and serve
my poor and illiterate villagers. A doctor is held in respect in the society.
It is an honourable profession. Through this profession I want to serve the
people of my locality. My sincere service will bring name and fame for me.
I
am now appearing at the H.S.C. examination. I have prepared well in all the
subjects. I am sure to cut a good figure in the examination. After passing the
H.S.C. with a brilliant result. I shall get myself admitted into a Medical
College. After obtaining the M.B.B.S degree, I shall go back to native village
and set myself to serve my village people through practice.
Success
in life depends largely upon the right choice of profession. I believe that I
shall be able to reach through this profession and I shall be able to serve the
nation and love people.
(14) A JOURNEY BY TAIN
Journey
is always a pleasure to me. Whenever I go on a journey, my heart leaps up with
joy. But my greatest pleasure is in a journey by train. A journey by plane is
costly. A journey by bus is risky and uncomfortable. But a journey by train is
pleasant, safe and comfortable.
In
the last autumn vacation I got sufficient time. So I made up my mind to make a
journey by train from Khulna to Rajshahi. I reached the station about half an
hour before the departure of the train. It was then a very busy time. Richshaw,
motor cars and other vehicles were coming to the station with passengers.
Coolies were running behind them. There were the shouts and rush of the
passengers and the coolies. After sometime hearing a whistle, the passengers
stood in a queue before the ticket counter. I also stood in the line and bought
a second class ticket.
The
right time came and the guard whistled and waved his flag. Everybody tried to
get into the train first. After much difficulty, I got into a second class
compartment. The compartment was full to its capacity.
The
train left the station. Gradually the speed of the train increased. I looked
outside and found the beauty of nature. The train was running through green
paddy fields. There were jute and sugarcane plants here and there. They were
tossing their heads in the breeze.
The
compartment presented a good scene. Some of the passengers were talking on
various matters. Some were reading newspapers and magazines. Hawker came up to
us with their goods for sale.
The
train was a mail train. It touched only at the big stations. Passengers
were getting down and again some were getting into the train. The hawkers and
the coolies were shouting. They are busy too. At last the train reached at the
Rajshahi station at 10 p.m. I got down.
The
journey in my heart I bore. It gave me much pleasure. Indeed it was one of the
most memorable days in my life.
(15) A JOURNEY BY BOAT
Journey
is always a pleasure to me. Whenever I go on a journey, my heart leaps up with
joy. But my greatest pleasure is in a journey by boat. Bangladesh is a land of
river. So it is easy to make a journey by boat. A journey by boat is
interesting and pleasant. Whenever I get opportunity to make a journey by boat,
I make the best use of the opportunity.
A
few days ago, I got an n opportunity to make a journey by boat. We were six in
number. Our destination was from Goyalando Ghat to Aricha Ghat. We hired a big
boat. The boatman and the oarsmen were very nice people. We have our breakfast
early in the morning. We started at 8.a.m. They sky was clear and the weather
was fine. The river was calm. It was full to the brim. Our boatman rowed for a
while and they set sail. The boat began to move smoothly. There were small
waves in the river. We enjoyed the scenes on both sides of the river. There
were green fields, paddy fields and jute fields, rows of trees which were full
of flowers and fruits. These things charmed our eyes. We saw many boys and
girls bathing and swimming in the river. Fishermen were catching fish. Women
were seen fetching water in pitchers.
We
reached a market at 12 o’clock. The boatman cast anchor. We got down. We
brought rice, egg, a big hilsha first and sweets. The boatmen gave us an oven
and fuel. We cooked the food ourselves. We took our meal. The boatmen took rest
for a while. Then they raised anchor.
Again
we started our journey. The boatmen tried to reach the destination before the
sunset. It was late afternoon. The sun was setting. We enjoyed the sunset. The
boat moved slowly and we reached our destination. It was dark all around.
The
journey in my heart I bore. It gave me much pleasure. It was one of the most
memorable days in my life indeed.
(16) A VILLAGE FAIR
A
village fair is an annual affair in our country. It is generally held on the
occasion of some religious festivals or some local important events. It is an
occasion for show, sale of various goods and entertainments.
A
village fair generally sits on the bank of a river, or a big canal or tank.
Some fair also sits in an open field under a big ancient tree or in the market
place, or in the yard of a temple or by the side of a big road.
A
village fair serves as a sort of exhibition of village products. Things of many
kinds and tastes are brought here for show and sale. Potters, carpenters,
blacksmiths, and weavers sell their hand made goods. Generally children gather
around the stalls that sell sweets, toys and balloons and women are attracted mainly
those stalls that sell artificial jewelry, earthenware, brassware, iron ware
shares etc.
A
village fair is an occasion of great joy and excitement among the villagers.
Circus, magic shows, merry – g- – rounds mock fights, Jarigan , Jatra etc are
arranged in the fair. Circus parties often bring their trained small tigers,
elephants, monkey, horse and bears to show funny feats. However the largest
crowd gathers in the Jatra pandal.
The
village fair has demerits too. Gambling parties come here and entice innocent
people to take part in gambling cheats, pick-pockets, criminals and village
mastans come to the fair and commit various kinds of evil deeds. Sometimes
children are lost and this causes great anxiety for the parents. A village fair
also creates unsanitary conditions. Sweet stalls are open. There is no shed
over them. Flies sit on the sweet and dust falls on them. People buy these
sweets and eat them. As a result there is very chance of the out break of
cholera and dysentery.
A
village fair is very useful and important. It removes the monotony of life and
brings joys to the villagers. It helps a man to forget his sorrows and
sufferings for the time being. People meet their kith and kin and mix with a
variety of people.
(17) Physical Exercise
Physical exercise means the movement of our limbs
according to some rules. It is good for health. It gives us health and energy.
It is necessary for the preservation of health. We cannot enjoy sound health
without it. Physical exercise makes a man active and strong. It keeps him free
from various fatal diseases.
There are various kinds of physical
exercise. Walking, riding, swimming, rowing and different types of games are
good forms of exercise. All of them are not suitable for everybody. There are
some forms of physical exercise like badminton, cricket, hockey, football,
tennis are quite good. For the female table tennis and badminton are quite nice
exercises. Other hand, walking which is a very common and easy exercise. It is
good for the weak and the old.
Physical exercise should not be taken all the time.
It must be taken in the open air. So morning and evening are the best time for
taking physical exercise. Closed room is not proper place for taking exercise.
We should take physical exercise regularly. But remember, no exercise should be
taken immediate after taking meal or in empty stomach. Do not take over
exercise. It may tell up the health.
The merits of taking physical exercise are not
described in words. Our body is like a machine. It cannot function well without
exercise. Physical exercise helps us to digest our food properly. It makes out
bones and muscles strong and stout. It also makes us pains-taking and
hard-working. It prevents diseases and helps balanced growth of our body. There
is a proverb in English that a sound mind lives in a sound body. It takes our
mind away from the monotony of our routine bound work and helps us to forget
pains, sorrows and mental agonies of our day-to-day life. It gives fresh
energy, refreshes our mind and helps us to work with renewed vigor. It
increases our longevity too.
Physical exercise is the most essential for the
students. They are the citizens in the making. Their life is the life of
preparation for the struggle of life. The students of today will lead the
nation tomorrow. They cannot expect to win in the battle of life without sound
health. So taking physical exercise is a must for them.
Health is the root of all happiness. Physical
exercise keeps us healthy. Many people do not take physical exercise regularly.
Then soon lose their health. They fall victims to many diseases. So the
necessity of taking exercise should not be ignored. Physical exercise prolongs
our life and strengthens our mind. If we want to keep our mind and body fresh,
we should take regular physical exercise.
(18) The Prize- giving Ceremony of Your School / College
The
day of prize-giving ceremony of a school is a colorful day of the school days.
It is a day of great joy and jubilation to all.
The
prize-giving ceremony of school was held on the 10th march, 2012.
The school building was tastefully decorated with beautiful leaves and colored
papers. A nice gate was erected at the entrance. We also made a dais before the
school building. The words bearing the title of the function were tastefully
inscribed on a long piece of cloth. The cloth was hung on the wall behind the
dais. The whole campus was dazzling with flags and festoons. Our local M.P. was the chief guest in the function.
The
function was attended by a large number of guests. Our chief guest reached just
at 3p.m. Our boy scouts gave him a guard of honor. A little boy garlanded him.
He was then conducted to eh seat of honor. A loud burst of cheering welcomed
his taking seat. He hoisted the national flag with the singing of the national
anthem by a group of boys.
The
function began with the recitation from the holy Quran. This being over, the
headmaster read out the annual reports of the activities of our school during
the past one year. The reposts pleased all the gentlemen present. Then, we
staged a one act play. This was highly praised by one and all in the function.
Then
the main ceremony began. The headmaster called out the names of the prize
winners one by one. They came, shook hands with the chief guest and took the
prizes. They were cheered up by the audience by clapping hands. I got two
prizes –one for standing first in the last annual examination and the other for
good conduct. My joy knew on bounds to get the prizes.
The
chief guest delivered a short but valuable speech. He congratulated us all and
spoke highly of our institution and assured us of his all possible help. We
were all charmed by his speech. He quoted two beautiful poetic lines for us to
follow:
“Honor
and shame from no condition rise,
Act well your part and there the
entire honor lies.”
The
function came to an end with a vote of thanks to the chair. We all left the
school for home with minds full of immense joy and pleasure.
The
prize-giving day was a day of great joy to us all. The memory of the day shall
remain ever fresh in our minds.
(19) VALUE OF TIME
A
proverb goes that time and tide waits for none. Since the dawn of civilization time
is moving. It goes on and on. It does not take any rest. It is never constant.
Time once gone is gone for ever. Lost health may be regained by medicine and
proper caring and nursing, lost wealth by dint of hard labour but lost time
cannot be recovered by any means because nobody can stop the speed of time.
Life
is nothing but the sum total of some moments. The span of human life is very
short. But man has many things to do during this limited period. Every moment
is very precious. Success in life depends on the best use of time. If we make a
proper division of our time and do our duties according to time, we are sure
that we would be able to shine in life and reach the cherished goal of our
life. Our efforts will be crowned with success. If we do not make the right use
of our time, we are sure to repent when it is too late and we will have to drag
a miserable existence in our day to day life.
Idle
brain is devil’s workshop. If we waste our time in idleness, all sorts of evil
thoughts will crowd on our brain. Idle persons who kill their time are the
burdens of the society. They sit idle and cherish no high ideal and lofty
ambition in life. They can not support themselves. They lead an unhappy
life and suffer in the long run.
There
should be time for reading, for office or other work, time for physical
exercise, time for recreation and time for prayer. This indicates that we
should do everything at the right moment. We can lead a healthy and prosperous
life only when we follow the routine which we make for our guidance. By turning
the pages of history we come to learn that those who have become great in the
world have made the proper use of their time. Even we see that bees, ants,
insects work timely. They do not kill a single moment.
History provides many examples of the importance of
time. One of Napoleon’s generals was a few minutes late in water-loose battle
field. As a result, Napoleon had to face a terrible defeat. On the other
hand, Robert Bruce, Abraham Lincoln, Einstein, Aristotle
and such other great persons led their lives to the top of success making the
best use of time.
We
are the supreme creation of Allah. So we should not waste our time. The most
prosperous nations are those that make the best use of time.
(20) THE GAME I LIKE MOST
There are many kinds of games in our country. Of
all games, I like football most. Football is my favorite game because it has
special advantages. It is mot as costly as cricket. It gives us much pleasure.
It thrills both the players and the spectators. It is a foreign game. It came
from England. At present, football is played all over the world.
Football is played in an open large field. The
ground is 110 to 120 yards long and 70 to 80 yards wide. There are two goal
posts at each of the two opposite ends of the field. A bar is tied on the goal
posts which is eight feet above from the ground. There are also centre and
penalty box.
The
game is played between two teams. Each team has eleven players. There are a
goal keeper, two backs, three half backs and five forwards on each side.
The goal keeper and the two backs play on the defensive while the others lead
the attack towards the opposite goal. The half backs play on the defensive and
lead the attack also. A ball is placed at the centre. A referee conducts the game.
As soon as the whistles, the game starts. Each team attacks the opponent and
defends its own. Each team tries heart and soul to net the ball. The whole game
is divided into two equal halves with an interval of ten minutes. At the end of
the first half each team change sits side. When a team nets a ball to the
opponent’s goal, the players and supporters of that team are beside themselves
with joy. The players of the team who can score many goals can win the game.
There
are some hard and fast rules for conducting the game. According to the rules
the game is played. The players abide by these rules and show respect to the
decision of the referee. Football game has many merits. First of all it makes a
man strong, healthy and wealthy. It teaches many moral qualities and virtues
like obedience, co-operation, discipline, tolerance punctuality etc.
In
spite of having some demerits, football is my favourite game. Through this game
one can learn and acquire many good qualities and virtues of head and heart. A
man can also earn a lot through the game.

problem. This will affect the economic development and progress of the country.

our country get married before they become matured. This early marriage is a
special cause of high rate of population growth.
4) Lack of Female Education:
Women are half of the population of our country. But most of them are not
educated. So, they are not aware of the negative effects of over population.
To check the growth of over population the
following measures should be taken. Firstly, the high birth rate of population
has to be checked through the family planning. It is the main effective
solution of the problem. Secondly, we have to make campaign to educate mass
people. It will help them to understand the value of family planning and the
problem of over population. Thirdly, early marriage has to be strictly stopped
by government low. People have to be aware about this. Lastly, various
encouraging Programmers Should be taken too meek the people eager to stop the
high growth rate of population.
Indeed, Population problem is a great problem of
our country. So, we all should take proper Steps to check the growth of
population. Even our government should take serious steps against it.
